Job Description:
Wheatland Tube, a division of Zekelman Industries, is seeking a Multi-Craft Maintenance Machinist located in Rochelle, IL.
Reporting to the Maintenance Foreman, this position is responsible for the safe repair and rebuild of tube mill production equipment along with the machining of parts and equipment to maximize quality, uptime, rate, and yield.
Requires a high aptitude regarding mechanical ability and electrical troubleshooting.
Overall troubleshooting and problem-solving skills regarding equipment operation, process conditions to diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical issues.
DUTIES AND
Responsibilities:
Skilled in the use of Lathes, Mills, surface Grinders, material selection, tooling requirements and overall safe usage of machine room equipment Develop and maintain a working knowledge of the process, equipment, controls and storeroom areas Responsible for Mill welder electrode trimming, operator training and maintenance Ensure equipment is maintained mechanically and electrically following all defined safety procedures and that everyone working on the equipment is following these procedures, including LOTO and Arc Flash.
Initiates troubleshooting techniques to solve quality, process, and maintenance related problems in all areas of the plant including industrial electrical control systems, power systems, AC/DC electronic speed control devices, gearbox and mill rebuilds, high frequenc ywelding and induction repair, mechanical troubleshooting, crane repair, and high-speed warehousing and robotic systems.
Ability to properly use required hand tools, power tools, hoists, cranes, alignment equipment, measuring devices and testing equipment Responsible to monitor, inspect, and complete reports on equipment using manual and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) Perform preventative maintenance on assigned mechanical systems Assist other team members as needed Communicate all equipment issues with the Maintenance Foreman Assists in new installation and upgrades of plant equipment Sign out all materials used to maintain proper inventory Ability to utilize catalogs and vendor contacts to research and requisition parts and materials as needed Interface with electricians, production operators, production foreman, engineers or any other persons involved during equipment PM or repairs.
Maintain a clean and orderly work area Perform other duties as assigned SKILL/KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:
Highschool diploma or equivalent Minimum 5 years Maintenance experience with heavy machinist background Ability to pass an aptitude test Mechanical aptitude and the ability to perform mechanical tasks Ability to read and speak English Ability to read and understand Mechanical prints Regular, full-time attendance per the schedule is an essential function of this role PHYSICAL/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands, handle and feel, and reach with hands and arms Ability to lift, climb, bend, stoop, push and pull Must be able to lift 60lbs Manufacturing/Industrial work environment The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles.
The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.
The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
